Happy February everyone! I am still hibernating like a bear. Belvedere and I are not fans of the cold so we have been enjoying relaxing by the fireplace. Growing up I was more of the make a snowman girl, I was not very good at ice skating. Believe me, I tried. I should have been good at it since I loved roller skating as a kid, but put me on ice with skates and it was a whole different story. I even took an ice skating class in college. Epic fail... so humiliating... when I signed up for this class I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn to ice skate. I lived in Minnesota for crying out loud, everyone knows how to skate! I should've taken the clue that the class was taught by a past Olympic skater. Whaaaa ha ha.... can you imagine! I talked with the instructor and wanted out of the class but she encourage me to take the class promising that if I tried she would pass me. Worse grade ever.... but I passed after having to skate a three minute program to music. Whaaaa ha ha ha.... It was like a three year old preforming for her parents.... I skated around the rink forward only.... bunny hop..... bunny hop...... ta da! I never put skates on again.
I envied my sisters who loved to ice skate at the outdoor rink at the park. They were graceful and would glide effortlessly across the ice. I spent more time hanging out in the warming house waiting for my sisters and friends to be done skating and then would join them on the walk home for hot chocolate and popcorn.
For this month I came up with an ice skating snowman. Notice, the snowman is carrying his skates, just like me! The design is placed on one of the snowball quilt blocks. If you made all four blocks last month, all you will need to do is applique this adorable design onto one of the blocks. I have recapped on how to make the snowball blocks for those of you who may just be joining us this month. If you are still looking for fabric I do have some fabric kits available in my Etsy shop. With just a few clicks in my Etsy Shop, I will ship you a fabric kit for this years quilt. The info and links can be found below. Buttons are also available in my Etsy Shop too.

The snowball blocks will be used for the January thru April applique designs. So let's get started.... First go to my website and download this month's free directions. Remember it's only FREE this month, then there will be a small 2.99 fee after that. So download and print it up NOW even if you don't expect to get to it yet.
Then following the Snowball Block directions, cut out your pieces out of dark green border fabric and your cream background fabric. |
Here I am cutting my 5 1/2" blocks in half diagonally. |
Pair together 1 cream triangle and 1 green triangle and sew a scant ¼” seam along the diagonal edge. Iron. Make a total of 4 triangle square blocks. |
Make a total of 4 snowball blocks. You will only use one block this month and save the other blocks for the February, March, and April blocks. |

ReplyDeleteI so love snowmen, thanks so much for the awesome blocks.
ReplyDeleteLove the snowman. Never learned to ice skate - not much snow in Miami, Florida. And now that I live where there is snow, if I tried I might fall and break something very essential!!! Just have to continue to have vicarious experiences. Thanks for the cute patterns.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy!
