June BOM

June is here and it's time for the BOM for this month.I am in the middle of freaking out over planning my son's High School Graduation Party. I've ordered the tent, reserved tables and chairs, starting planning the food, made labels to address the invites.... the list goes on and on. Thomas graduates on the 7th and we are thrilled! So I am naming this block 'Grad Party'. (shhhh I know it's a Grecian Square, but I have high school graduation floating in my every thought.)  Have fun with your fabric while sewing this block together.   I used a total of 4 fabrics ranging from light to dark. The printable pattern can be found Free HERE and on Craftsy. Past patterns can be found for a small $1.99 fee at my Etsy and Craftsy shops just in case you are just joining the BOM or have missed one.
Let me show you how I completed my 'Grad Party' block....
Here the the fabric choices that I used for my block...

Out of the dark fabric I cut 2 ~ 4 7/8" blocks and then cut them corner to corner to form four triangle pieces. Label them 'A'. Although it's not shown here,  also cut 2 ~ 4 7/8" blocks out of light (background fabric) and then cut them from corner to corner to form four triangle pieces, also label them 'A'.

Sew the 'A' light and dark triangles together to form 4 triangle squares. Iron.
Trim up to measure 4 1/2" square.

Cut 1 ~ 4 1/2" square and label 'C'

Cut 4 ~ 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles from two different fabrics.
Label these 'B'. Sew  one of each 'B' rectangles together along the 'long' side to form  a 4 1/2" 'B' square. Iron.

Lay the 'A', 'B', 'C' sections to form the 'Grad Party' block.
Sew together and iron.

A Sweet Little Snowman...

About a month or so ago I sent my pattern off to Meg to test. She did such a great job trying out,  'A Sweet Little Snowman' pattern. I was thrilled with her results and think  her 'Sweet Little Snowman' turned out adorable! She went above and beyond and tried both quilt squares that are featured in the pattern. She had caught a couple of little boo-boo's that I missed. When I write a pattern and read it and look over it for hours on end, usually early in the morning or late at night since I try to work things around my school job. So in my mind, I think the pattern looks great,  but quite often I miss something and need another set of eyes to look my patterns over. I'm so thankful to pattern testers! I've got a little thank you ready to be mailed out for her. Meg has a blog named The Works of Our Hands which I enjoy reading.  I hope that you take time to visit Meg's blog.

Here is the flying geese border. So Cute.
I love the red work!

I love the fabric choice!

Thank you Meg!
This cute little pattern can be found on Etsy, Craftsy and on the Quilt Doodle Website. It's not too early to start working on some Christmas gifts, this would be a fun one to give!

I'm Going to Eat Some Cake!

The great thing about having a birthday on May 25th is that sometimes it falls on Memorial Weekend! It's so awesome to have a three day weekend when it's my birthday! My great aunt May once told me "we are so special that they declared it a national holiday!" So I'm going to  eat some cake this weekend... and spend some time doing my favorite things.... quilting.... maybe garden.... spend some time with my family.... So take time to have a piece of cake this weekend and celebrate with me!

Happy Quilting~

A Day Of Gardening...

It has been a day of gardening while my husband strips wallpaper off the mud room walls. My youngest is graduating this year, providing he passes this one class... he's keeping us in suspense... gotta love him. As I plan everything to be in his school colors, I'm hoping he's turning in his late work. Yesterday I got his senior poster done and his Grad announcement/invitations ready to be ordered from Shutterfly. I feel like I'm somewhat organized. Today was the perfect day to relax and garden.

I've always wanted to make a terrarium. This was a lot of fun to put
together. Yup, that's 'Sandy' from Sponge Bob.... I  couldn't
resist putting it in the bowl. It made me chuckle....

Another look at my succulent arrangement.

The view from above....

I also replanted my pineapple plant into a larger pot.

I planted this planter for outside on my deck.  Red and White.... red impatiens and Diamond Frost.
I think it'll look nice once it fills in a bit.

I know it looks sparse right now. I'm hoping it will fill in and look beautiful by
June 29th, when we are having Thomas' open house.
I found this on Pinterest.... this is what I'm hoping my red and white pots will look like....

The only pot that doesn't look goofy is this lovely
Martha Washington Geranium that I got from my
mom and dad on Mother's Day. My dad made the birdhouse
for me many years ago. Many wrens have raised babies in it.
I hope that you are having a wonderful day and finding some time to relax...

Happy quilting  Gardening,
