At Spring market this year, a coffee shop made these wonderful peach-ginger iced teas. Oh my goodness they were yummy and I drank several while at the convention center. Well I watched them make it and have figured out how to make my own here at home. You will need to brew some tea.... I made a pitcher of English Black Tea, but Green Tea will work too. To make Peach Ginger Ice Tea you will need;
A pitcher of strongly brewed tea
Sparkling water
Ice
To make a glass of this yummy tea. Fill a large glass halfway with ice... then fill glass halfway with tea, then 1 oz of the peach syrup and 1 oz of the ginger syrup... fill your glass the rest of the way with sparkling water. Enjoy!!!

My sippy cup is full of my peach-ginger iced tea! |
For a quick and easy project I thought I would show you how I made a coffee cup cozy.... first you'll have to go to your favorite coffee shop and get one of those cardboard coffee cup cozy thingies... Doesn't matter what shop, we all have our favorites and I'm not going to judge, coffee in my book is awesome no matter where you get it and if someone else is making it, even better! Now, while enjoying that cup of coffee, dig through your scraps and find some fun fabrics to work with for your coffee cozy..... or tea cozy....
|
Use your paper coffee cup holder use it for your template. After tracing your template onto a piece of paper, measure it on your travel mug to see if it will fit. Add to it if you need to... |
|
Using my 'Spring Bloom' pattern, I embellished my template with flowers and a bumble bee. Then trace the flowers and bee onto heat n bond. |
|
Using your paper template cut out the front of your coffee cozy adding seam allowances, I had to add a bit extra for mine. My coffee mug is bigger then the grande coffee I get from Starbucks. |
|
Iron your heat n bond onto your flower and bee fabrics then cut out. Iron bee body and flowers onto front of the coffee cozy. (Remember the bee's wings and flower centers will be added later) |
|
With right side together layer front and back of coffee cozy onto batting. |
|
Sew 1/4" on each end, trim. |
|
Turn right side out, pin, trim top and bottom. It's time to machine applique!
I use a buttonhole stitch that I have on my machine and brown thread.
After applique is done, you can also quilt the coffee cozy if desired.
I felt the appliqueing was enough. |
|
Sew binding to top and bottom of coffee cozy using a 2" strip folded in half. |
|
Time to embellish with yo-yo's and bee's wings following the 'Spring Bloom' pattern for directions. |
|
On each of the short ends... add on Velcro or closing of your choosing.
A button and loop closure would be cute too! Then hand sew the binding in place. |
|
All done! Isn't it cute! I love it!!! |
|

Greetings,

There is my second comment because I am a follower of this blog, thank you and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI like black, very hot coffee but tea needs lemon. The sleeve is so cute, thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite coffee is a Caramel Macchiato but, unfortunately, I don't get one everyday -- just on "treat" days. Sigh.... But, I do love good homemade coffee as well. In the summer, cold-brewed iced coffee is my drink of choice. If I'm having hot coffee, I love it with some coconut syrup in it -- makes it so delicious and it feels fancy too! :D
ReplyDeleteReally cute pattern! As for my coffee - rarely as I don't like the taste so let's make it a mocha with a shot of raspberry syrup; my tea - Irish breakfast; stepped for three minutes with sugar and in the summer iced.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet little mug cosy; thanks for the tutorial. I like my coffee strong and black with a little sugar. Nowadays I usually drink green tea because I can drink it without sugar, but, as it happens, at this moment I have a cup of English Breakfast blend with sugar next to my computer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the give-away today. I follow you with GFC.
ReplyDeleteI love how you embellished your cup cozy. I was going to do several for christmas gifts just the fabric but now I might have to add embellishing.
ReplyDeleteI drink neither coffee or tea but I love hot chocolate with marshmellows. I hope I can still be considered for this give-away. Love the pattern. Jean j_westenberger@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteI love this pattern but I have a problem ... I love all your patterns and will soon own ALL of them. LOL I like my coffee with a little sugar and sometimes caramel. ReplyDeleteIt's me again. This is my follower comment so it's a repeat of all the things I said in the first one. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteBeing raised in barely in the south (WV) and now living in the south (OK), I love my iced tea sweet, sweet, and more sweet. It was foreign to me the first time I went to a restaurant and was offered non-sweet tea and a shock when a restaurant didn't have already sweetened tea. Thanks for a chance to win the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a tea drinker, not too strong but with some skim milk as well.
ReplyDeleteLove your pattern. lyn.robyn.smith@gmail.com

I like my coffee with Creamer, and Stevia. Prefer the coffee to be Hazelnut flavor. I like iced tea black, but hot tea with stevia, and maybe some creamer. I'm a contradiction in terms I guess...lol.
ReplyDeleteI follow you by email!
ReplyDeleteI am not a coffee drinker but I like my tea plain (no cream or sugar). This is such a cute pattern.
ReplyDeleteI like my coffee with flavored cream.
ReplyDeleteI follow with GFC.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I don't drink coffee, but I love my green tea. I make it as sun tea. Then I cool it so it is iced tea. I don't like it sweetened, but add honey for the hubby... he's a beekeeper, so the honey is extra good. :)

ReplyDeleteI like my coffee with a single cream, but my tea has to be black or with lemon. Thanks
ReplyDeletePlain, unflavored, unsweetened tea, hot or cold. It must be brewed - no instant or from the soda machine.

ReplyDeleteCute cozie and mug rug!! I love My tea with milk and sometimes I add a little vanilla extract😉. I also like a "fancy" coffee, which means I like it with Irish Cream (Baileys) and that is usually around Christmas time when Santa puts a small bottle in my stocking!!

I love the ginger peach also, but I usually infuse my tea with fresh mint from my garden. Thanks for the fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteakk_nana@yahoo.com
I make my own mocha each morning: hazelnut coffee, a squirt of Giradelli white chocolate syrup, hot milk and top it with a bit of chocolate whipped cream. Decadent, but I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat's just as sweet as pie! And, so is my coffee because I use the flavored creamers..
ReplyDeleteAnd I just signed in as a follower--even though I stop by all the time. Thanks for the chance to be a winner.
ReplyDeleteYour coffee cosy is lovely Cindy. I love my coffee with milk, no sugar. I also love to go out for a cappacino for a special treat. Thanks for the lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWhen I drink coffee, it needs lots of sugar and flavored creamer - too much of a pain so I rarely drink it! I love Celestial Seasons Bengal Tiger tea in the morning, with milk and sugar...the rest of the day is sweet iced tea (all year long). All decaf, of course!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a seasoned follower of your blog - thanks for the great giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI collet Bee's. I like a little coffee with my cream, LOL
ReplyDeleteI love loose tea, with honey, when it cool enough to drink it.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe! I'm a tea drinker, hot tea that is. With the weather getting warmer though, this recipe sounds like the perfect thing to sip while sitting on the back porch in the evenings after supper. Since our glasses tend to sweat, I definitely need to make a cute cozy for each of them.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I follow via e-mail.

ReplyDeleteEmail follower!
ReplyDeleteHot black tea with a couple of cookies for dipping.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bold roast girl & must add Splenda and heavy cream - can't get through the day without a pot of that nectar 'o da gods! Not much of a tea girl but iced ginger herbal tea with peach flavored vodka is wonderful on a hot summer evening .... or iced peach herbal tea with ginger flavored vodka - either one is quite refreshing if you're into adult beverages at all. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love my coffee with just a dab of half and half. My hot tea gets just a little bit of sweetener with that half and half, or French vanilla creamer. And the cold ones...lattes of almost any variety, just not too sweet.

ReplyDeleteI like both my coffee and tea with just sugar. What a neat design to have around my mug.
ReplyDeleteEVERY ONE THINKS I AM NUTS BUT I LIKE MY FIRST CUP OF COFFEE WITH INTERNATIONAL DELIGHTS SWEET CREAM NO SUGAR REQUIRED. BUT THE REST OF THE DAY IT WANT ICE COFFEE WITH MOCHA AND CARMEL FLAVOR. Almost as thick as a milk shake. Ooh so good on a hot day in FLORIDA.

Your coffee cozy is so cute!! I love my hot and cold tea unsweetened. Coffee on the other hand has to be sweet with non fat milk and a little sugar. I have come up with my own version of a Starbucks frappuccino.....dark roasted coffee, splash of non fat milk, a little sugar, Hershey syrup and ice blended in my Magic Bullet blender. Yummy and addictive!
ReplyDeleteFresh Ginger, lemon and green tea is the best! Let it steep to blend flavors! It's so relaxing! I'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI like my coffe and tea black with touch of sugar.
ReplyDeleteI follow via email
ReplyDeleteI prefer tea, and I drink mostly decaf sweetened iced tea. I like raspberry flavoring in it, but the peach and ginger sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI follow each month when I check for the latest BOM pattern.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cute cup cozy. Your pattern is very nice.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge coffee snob. I special order my coffee from a place in MN that roasts their own beans. I always grind my coffee beans fresh each morning and love a strong coffee. I put just a small amount of plain coffee creamer in my coffee. I used to drink it with flavored creamers, but then they started putting so much sugar in them and they tasted like candy instead of creamer. LOL In the afternoon and evening I drink hot tea with a small amount of honey, no creamer.
I follow your blog on Bloglovin' and also via email.
ReplyDeleteI love to treat myself to a takeaway coffee and I always get a weak Latte with 2 sugars. Mmmmmm. Just right. Love your pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm an email follower.
