Ice Tea Recipe and a Cozy....

 At Spring market this year, a coffee shop made these wonderful peach-ginger iced teas. Oh my goodness they were yummy and I drank several while at the convention center. Well I watched them make it and have figured out how to make my own here at home. You will need to brew some tea.... I made a pitcher of English Black Tea, but Green Tea will work too. To make Peach Ginger Ice Tea you will need;
A pitcher of strongly brewed tea
Sparkling water
Ice

To make a glass of this yummy tea. Fill a large glass halfway with ice... then fill glass halfway with tea, then 1 oz of the peach syrup and 1 oz of the ginger syrup... fill your glass the rest of the way with sparkling water. Enjoy!!!
 My sippy cup is full
of my peach-ginger iced tea!
For a quick and easy project I thought I would show you how I made a coffee cup cozy.... first you'll have to go to your favorite coffee shop and get one of those cardboard coffee cup cozy thingies... Doesn't matter what shop, we all have our favorites and I'm not going to judge, coffee in my book is awesome no matter where you get it and if someone else is making it, even better! Now, while enjoying that cup of coffee, dig through your scraps  and find some fun fabrics to work with for your coffee cozy..... or tea cozy....
Use your paper coffee cup holder use it for your template. After tracing your template onto a piece of paper, measure it on your travel mug to see if it will fit.  Add to it if you need to...
Using my 'Spring Bloom' pattern, I embellished my template with flowers and a bumble bee.  Then trace the flowers and bee onto heat n bond.
Using your paper template cut out the front of your coffee cozy adding seam allowances, I had to add a bit extra for mine. My coffee mug is bigger then the grande coffee I get from Starbucks.
Iron your heat n bond onto your flower and bee fabrics then cut out.  Iron bee body and flowers onto front of the coffee cozy. (Remember the bee's wings and flower centers will be added later)
With right side together layer front and back of coffee cozy onto batting.
Sew 1/4" on each end, trim.
Turn right side out, pin, trim top and bottom. It's time to machine applique!
I use a buttonhole stitch that I have on my machine and brown thread.
After applique is done, you can also quilt the coffee cozy if desired.
I felt the appliqueing was enough.
Sew binding to top and bottom of coffee cozy using a 2" strip folded in half.
Time to embellish with yo-yo's and bee's wings following the 'Spring Bloom' pattern for directions.
On each of the short ends... add on Velcro or closing of your choosing.
A button and loop closure would be cute too! Then hand sew the binding in place.
All done!  Isn't it cute!  I love it!!!
Wilson and I will be giving away a 'Spring Blooms' packaged pattern to two lucky winners,  so that they can make this adorable coffee cozy, or a fun tea towel !
To WIN all you need to do is leave me a comment telling me how you like your coffee or tea.  I love my coffee black, but my sis likes cream and tons of sugar.  Do you like flavored or plain coffee?  Or do you prefer tea?  To get a second chance, let me know if you are a follower.  Remember if you are a no-reply blogger, leave me your email address so that I can contact you! 3. I like black, very hot coffee but tea needs lemon. The sleeve is so cute, thanks for the opportunity!

  4. My favorite coffee is a Caramel Macchiato but, unfortunately, I don't get one everyday -- just on "treat" days. Sigh.... But, I do love good homemade coffee as well. In the summer, cold-brewed iced coffee is my drink of choice. If I'm having hot coffee, I love it with some coconut syrup in it -- makes it so delicious and it feels fancy too! :D

  5. Really cute pattern! As for my coffee - rarely as I don't like the taste so let's make it a mocha with a shot of raspberry syrup; my tea - Irish breakfast; stepped for three minutes with sugar and in the summer iced.

  6. That's such a sweet little mug cosy; thanks for the tutorial. I like my coffee strong and black with a little sugar. Nowadays I usually drink green tea because I can drink it without sugar, but, as it happens, at this moment I have a cup of English Breakfast blend with sugar next to my computer.

  20. Being raised in barely in the south (WV) and now living in the south (OK), I love my iced tea sweet, sweet, and more sweet. It was foreign to me the first time I went to a restaurant and was offered non-sweet tea and a shock when a restaurant didn't have already sweetened tea. Thanks for a chance to win the pattern.

Not much of a tea girl but iced ginger herbal tea with peach flavored vodka is wonderful on a hot summer evening .... or iced peach herbal tea with ginger flavored vodka - either one is quite refreshing if you're into adult beverages at all. ;-)

  63. I love my coffee with just a dab of half and half. My hot tea gets just a little bit of sweetener with that half and half, or French vanilla creamer. And the cold ones...lattes of almost any variety, just not too sweet.

  75. Your coffee cozy is so cute!! I love my hot and cold tea unsweetened. Coffee on the other hand has to be sweet with non fat milk and a little sugar. I have come up with my own version of a Starbucks frappuccino.....dark roasted coffee, splash of non fat milk, a little sugar, Hershey syrup and ice blended in my Magic Bullet blender. Yummy and addictive!

  80. What a super cute cup cozy. Your pattern is very nice.

I am a huge coffee snob. I special order my coffee from a place in MN that roasts their own beans. I always grind my coffee beans fresh each morning and love a strong coffee. I put just a small amount of plain coffee creamer in my coffee. I used to drink it with flavored creamers, but then they started putting so much sugar in them and they tasted like candy instead of creamer. LOL In the afternoon and evening I drink hot tea with a small amount of honey, no creamer.
