12 Days of Christmas, Day 2 🎄

Day 2

Welcome to the second day of Quilt Doodles 12 Days of Christmas. During the next 12 days I will share with you some fun, quick and easy projects and recipes for those last minute Christmas gifts to help brighten the season. Today I'm going to share with you a new recipe that I tried this year. Grinch Christmas Cookies... I love anything grinchy and these cookies are yummy and fit the bill. They are festive and fun to make. Let's face it, with gatherings being cancelled, I'm feeling a bit like a Grinch but these cookies are delightful and will bring out Cindy Lou Who's Christmas spirit in anyone!

Grinch Christmas Cookies
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp green food color
  • 2 tbsp green sugar
  • 24 candy cane Kiss candies, unwrapped
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Either lightly grease your cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add in the egg and vanilla. Continue to mix until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add half of the dry mixture, mix. Add half the milk, mix. Add the remaining flour, mix. Add the remaining mild, mix. Add in the green food coloring. Roll small balls of dough then roll in the green sugar. Place on cookie sheet one inch apart. Bake for 12-13 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool a minute. Then press a candy cane kiss into the center of each Grinch sugar cookie. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.

Happy quilting and baking,
Cindy and Belvedere

  2. Thanks for the recipe! I made these tonight and the recipe is a keeper. I doubled the recipe and tinted half green, left the rest plain and rolled them in red sugar. Yummy!
