FNSI

Last night was FNSI (Friday Night Sew In) It's easy for me to remember because it was the Friday before I go to quilt quild. I enjoy sewing with my virtual friends and I look forward to seeing what everyone worked on when I get back from my first quild meeting today. Well, maybe not my first meeting... I'm used to doing presentations for guilds and have sat in on many meetings. It's my first guild meeting as an actual member. My friend and I are joining a local guild today. I think it'll be fun to get together with a group of talented ladies who share their love for quilting! Now let me show you what I worked on for FNSI.

I had my good friend Lynn, over a few weekends ago and I started a table topper (mini quilt) using some leftover fabrics from a quilt I pieced together for me son. This project has been piled up sitting by my sewing machine for the last few weeks. So I thought it would be a great project to tackle tonight. It's going to be super cute when it's done. It's a winter themed table topper made out of small snowball blocks.
Finished size will be about 36" x 36"

It took forever to trim up my snowball blocks... I had 81 squares to trim. How do you like my pretty pink rotary cutter from Olfa? I love it! It's part of their new Splash line.

I then had all those lovely squares to iron, it took me a lot longer than I thought. The trick to this pattern is to make it look scrappy and alternate the light and dark blocks. So I took some time to sort the blocks arrange them in a scrappy stack for sewing.

I started to sew my topper together, but started to see cross eyed around eight pm. So I called it a night, put on my nighty nights and joined hubby to watch some TV.
Belvedere curled up on my lap and we both fell asleep in the recliner. I really wanted to finish my snowball table topper. I'm hoping to get back to it this afternoon, I am really pleased with the progress I made during FNSI even though I called it an early night.

Thank you again Wendy for an another awesome FNSI! I look forward to sewing along with everyone next month too!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. I’ve had a snowball quilt idea planned for a while but haven’t settled on a snowball size! What size did you cut for your snowballs? It looks close to the size I’m hoping to do for my quilt! Your blue snowballs are beautiful and your runner will be gorgeous! Thank You

  4. This is going to be a great quilt! I always love it when a quilt gives me a bunch of bonus HSTs!! What are you going to do with yours?? I always sew them together before trimming them off - easier for me.
