Bidding Goodbye

In this passage in Rosemary's book, Rebecca writes in her diary about saying goodbye to several young men who are going to war. During the Civil War many towns would have grand 'parades' to bid the soldiers goodbye. The young men would be in good spirits and excited about going... family members would put on brave faces and wave them goodbye as they marched by. Reminds me of the scene from the movie 'Cold Mountain' as Nicole Kidmans character, Ada waved goodbye to Inman, (Jude Law).
I picked out fabrics similar to what is shown in the book.

Have a wonderful week!  Remember to post your progress on the Civil War Diary Quilt Group on Flickr.

I will be working on 'Pet Regiment' out of Rosemary's book next. Hope that you have a great weekend! School starts in a couple of days, goodbye summer. I will miss my carefree, jammies and coffee until noon days....

Happy quilting and perfect stitches to you!
Check out Rosemary's website.  Her books and Cd's can be ordered there too!

  1. This is a lovely block! The fabrics used are especially nice too. I'm enjoying your progress through this and your Dear Jane as well.
