Welcome to day 2 of the Quilt Doodle BOM 2014 blog hop. It has been so much fun to see everyone's quilts so far. Today I am hosting Nancy's quilt. I love her use of the light and dark blues and how her quilt turned out. Here's a note from Nancy and pictures of her lovely quilt....
"I am so excited to have this opportunity to participate in my first ever blog hop! This was also the first BOM I have ever been a part of. I have been quilting for ten years, but because I do so many other crafts, I still have so much to learn and practice. This quilt was fun and helped me brush up on my skills with rulers and my rotary cutter. Using these tools has always been my least favorite part of quilting!
I did have some frustrating times too. When putting together the quilt top I discovered the block of lights was too long. Yes, I know, I didn't measure! I did the block and just put it to the side. Some how I ended up putting a extra row between each group of lights! So I had to rip out and re-sew and touch up my embroidery for the light string. Oh well, I always say my seam ripper is my favorite tool.
So far I only have the quilt top completed. I will probably hand quilt it and keep it basic. I'm not sure if it will stay with me or become a Christmas gift. I'm leaning towards a gift, I'll be that much ahead come Christmas time.
I love Cindy's designs! They have everything I enjoy creating in them. Applique, embroidery and quilting.....so much fun! In fact, I already have the first two blocks done for the 2015 BOM.
Thanks so much for hosting me Cindy, and thanks for sharing your sweet patterns!"

Love it. Your light and medium background looks neat. Nice version of a beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteNancy's snowman greeter is adorable! Great finish. I love the red/white borders too.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing with my row of lights! A lovely quilt and how ambitious to hand quilt this. Congratulations on a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteWell I did manage to down load all the blocks this time. But no I did not finish the quilt. Loving the blog hop part where I get to see the same quilt done so many different way!!!! That's one reason I never buy a kit. Who wants the same ole same ole when 500 or 50 people all buy the kit
ReplyDeleteOh wow... Love the way you did the background .... Love the look but sure do not want to think about all the extra math to get it right!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! I love the checkerboard effect of your backgrounds and your embellishments are a nice touch. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, I love your quilt. The red and white borders add a great touch. I did the same thing with my mugs as you did with your lights. The challenge was going around the applique I had done!
ReplyDeleteAdorable quilt! The recipient will be very happy! Love the little snowman by the house!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing all the embellishments on everyone's quilts. They are all adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks so bright and cheerful -- my favorite special touch is the cups with the trim since that's something new!
