It's a Blog Hop Party with Cake!

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways I Don't know about you but I am busy trying to get those Christmas gifts done. Santa's work shop has been in full swing!  I thought for the blog hop I would share a cute little stocking stuffer I am making for the girls in my life.  Not only is a cute stocking stuffer, but it would be cute for birthdays or anytime you want to give someone a cupcake! A calorie free cupcake! So here is what you will need;

2 -  4"x12" pieces of fabric from your stash
scrap piece of batting 4" x 12"
rick rack (optional)
lollipop (I found mine at Walgreen's)
a pair fluffy, thick socks
cardboard coffee cozy from your favorite coffee shop

Using your cardboard coffee cozy as a template, trace around it.
The top and bottom lines will be your sewing lines.

I trimmed up the top to a quarter inch from the sewing line so I
can use it as a guide for placing the rick rack. Layer cozy right sides
together on the batting

Sew on the 'bottom' line....

On the 'top' line.... place the rick rack between the layers and sew on
the line... (remember, do not sew the side seams)

Trim your seams to a 1/4 inch. Turn right side out and iron.

Here's the tricky part.... one side of your cozy may be bigger the the other, no worries!
On the larger side turn under a 1/4" and iron.... then tuck the smaller edge in and sew an 1/8th inch
top stitch catching all of the layers.

Here I have the rolled up fuzzy socks and coffee cozy....
ready to put together. Stuff the sock in the cozy and
arrange to look like frosting, tuck in the lollipop to top it off.

Voila! A Gourmet cupcake!

The baking continues....

Glorious Autumn Block Party

Glorious Autumn Block Party and Super Deals for Quilters  I am thrilled to be one of the 45 designers taking part in The Glorious Autumn Block Party. There have been so many wonderful blocks presented so far.  They would make a beautiful sampler quilt! I'm so happy to have you stop by my blog and check out my 'Oak Wreath ' block. As a designer I find inspiration all around me.  To come up with my block that I designed especially for the Glorious Autumn Block Party, I didn't have to look further than my own back yard. I have a majestic Oak Tree right out my back door.
A free PDF copy of 'Oak Wreath' can be found HERE and HERE. I hope that you have fun making my 'Oak Wreath' block.
This majestic Oak tree graces my backyard.

The leaves were just starting to change as I worked on designing my block. It was perfect Minnesota fall weather, sunny and in the low 70's with a slight breeze... love it!

I cut 9  4 1/2" blocks to create my background for my block.  I'm using Hoffman's Bali Handpaints.

I laid my blocks out to create a 9-patch block.

Traced leaves on heat and bond, all ready to be ironed onto my contrasting leaf fabric.

I arranged the leaves out on to my 9-patch block overlapping stems and leaves to form a wreath.
Then I iron them onto the block.

The finished block. This would make a lovely wallhanging, pillow, table runner for fall.
Make a set of 12 and it would be a fantastic lap quilt for fall.  For a different look you could
use a cream background with fall colored leaves. I also think this block would look  nice with
stems quilted on the leaves. Quilting would make this block pop.
