Mondays with Marcus! It's my turn!!!

~ Woodland Holiday ~
Finished measurements are 29 1/2" x 29 1/2"

Go on over to my website and download the FREE PDF pattern for this darling project. This quilt features an adorable bear and my Lumber Jack Primo Plaids along with Scrap Heap by Laura Berringer. I look forward to showing you how to put this cozy mini quilt together. Make sure to check  my sew along video. I also have a fabric kit available. The kit includes the fabric needed for the Woodland Holiday applique quilt top and binding, even the button eyes!

I used Flexifuse for the iron on applique design. I like using this product because it's very soft and pliable and when the quilt is finished you don't even know it's there. It's a game changer for me. I also love that I can run this thru my printer and save time on tracing! It works best for me to print one sheet at a time.

This sweet mini quilt also features an embroidered pine bough border which is optional when making the quilt. I used Valdani's #12 pearl cotton for the embroidery. I used a straight stitch and a backstitch to make the pine bough design.

To make life easier, I use a lightboard to trace the design on the center square. Light boards can be found on Amazon at a pretty reasonable price and it makes a great gift for a quilter.
I light that it's lightweight and easy to travel with. If you like to do applique or embroidery it's a very helpful tool to have.

I enjoyed quilting this small quilt. I did a scalloped design in the brown triangles around the center bear design. In the red border I quilted a holly leaf design. On the bear block I echoed the bear and pine bough design. I kept it simple and easy. I did a lot of stitch in the ditch too. I got this quilted in an afternoon.

I just love how cozy this quilt has turned out! I'm going to enjoy having it on display over the holiday season. I will have it draped over a chair on display. Or I may even use it as a centerpiece on my dining room table.

I have put together a how to video and the link to that can be found HERE. I put it together showing the steps on how to put this adorable mini quilt together. You can sew along with me and pause the video for each of the steps if you would like to.
