Happy November! It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! The weather was beautiful here in Minnesota for our trick or treaters, no rain, a clear crisp night. Belvedere enjoyed greeting the goblins every time the door bell rang. It was a busy night running up and down the stairs to hand out candy. At least it wasn't too late a night since it was a school night.
We will have two blocks to do this month, they are both corner blocks with applique and it does matter which way the geese are flying on the blocks. One block features a pumpkin design and the other block has a cherry design. Both of these designs can either be appliqued or embroidered. If you are wondering how many blocks there are all together. There are 20 blocks all together when we are done. So let's get started....
|
Following the pattern directions cut out your pieces for your 'cherry' block. |
|
You will be referring back to the March directions on making flying geese blocks. You will make a total of 6 for each block (12 all together) To make the flying geese you will begin with your background square on top of your rectangle, right sides together lining the square up on one end. Sew corner to corner. Trim away excess fabric and press. |
|
Repeat on the other side.... |
|
Trim away the excess fabric and then press. |
|
• Sew four flying geese rectangles together. This should measure 12 ½” x 6 ½”
• Sew two flying geese rectangles together, this should measure 6 ½” x 6 ½”
• As pictured above, sew the two flying geese block to the 6 ½” x 6 ½” background block right sides together. Press.
• Then sew this right sides together to the four flying geese strip. Press.
• Finished block measurements 12 ½” x 12 ½” Make 2 blocks total. One for the cherries block and one for the pumpkin block.

But as soon as the new section or block is out the old block pattern will no longer be a freebie. But it will still be available for a small fee on my website or in my Etsy shop. If you want to share your finished blocks, feel free to post them on Facebook Group (Quilt Doodle Designs Garden Sunshine BOM 2019) and tag me or post them on Instagram tag Quilt Doodle Designs. I love to see everyone's progress as we stitch along together.
As a reminder... if someone asks for the PDF or where it is on the Facebook group, please do not post the PDF directly onto the site. I appreciate you referring them to my website or to the blog. Thank you!

Thank you, Cindy. I like both of these so much! I am trying to figure out what a block of four of the cherries would look like - with the cherry always in the middle corner. I think I would like that a lot, too.
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous block, thank you! :-)
