I love Halloween and find it so much fun to decorate for this fall celebration. So I have a few things to show you which I think you will have fun with to decorate your own homes with. Some are quick and easy and can be whipped up in an afternoon! But first I want to thank Marian at Seams To Be Sew You will have to make sure to check out all the cool giveaways that Marian has in store for this hop! Today's giveaway can be found at the end of my posting... I love to do blog hops and it's been awhile since I've participated in one. I've got a few tricks, I mean projects to show you. My first project that I would like to share with you is a flag to hang outside to greet your trick or treaters with... it's an oldie but goodie.
I decided to use my witch paper piecing pattern for the main design. This pattern can be found free on my website and also on Craftsy. |
I added some borders and rick rack. Prairie Points finish off the bottom edge. I'm holding my finished flag on a dowel. It'll look really cute hanging on the flag stand at home. |
The finished measurements are 12" x 18", perfect for my garden flag holder at home. |
I then worked on a set of placemats using 'Something Wicked' from Wilmington Prints. I loved the preprinted fabric placemat panel. I fell in love with the skull and Edgar Allen Poe saying. I'm not usually a fan of 'panels' but I totally fell in love with this spooky panel! The directions on the panel was for either placemats or pillows. I decided to make some spooky placemats. I quilted them using a spider web design that I free motioned.
I didn't just stop there! Oh no... I also made some spooky Pumpkin Heads mug rugs. They are super quick and easy to make. The pattern can be found in my Etsy Shop. These sweet little mug rugs are fun to make for co-workers or for the kiddos. Make a bunch and string them together for a delightful garland. They are so versatile. So here is how I made them...
No onto the giveaways! Marian has some awesome sponsors for this Halloween blog hop. The Fat Quarter Shop is giving away a $75 gift certificate to one lucky winner. To enter use the entry form below.

Have fun hopping around. There will be all sorts of quilting treats for you!

These sweet little mug rugs are fun to make for co-workers or for the kiddos. Make a bunch and string them together for a delightful garland. They are so versatile. So here is how I made them...
Pin the template in place and sew around it using it as a guide, sewing thru all three layers. |
Remove the paper template, see the pumpkin shape. Remember to leave a 1-2 inch opening at the top for the stem. Trim the pumpkin shape to a quarter inch seam and turn right side out. Iron. |
Pop your pumpkin stem in place.... |
Then sew in place, closing up the top of the pumpkin. Iron. |
At this time if you want to quilt the pumpkin shape you can, but it is totally optional. |
Iron on your pumpkins face! Isn't it adorable! I have one pumpkin with the quilting and one without. Now it's time to do a blanket stitch around the pumpkin's face pieces. Then they're done!
|
My spooky table! Complete with skulls and candles.
I'm all ready for Halloween!
