June's Block... A Checkerboard Wreath

June’s block is out and it’s a scrappy Christmas wreath that is adorned with little red buttons. You can either make it with two fabrics for a checkerboard look, or mix it up with several green fabrics and have a scrappy look.  You will only need two wreathes for this section of the quilt. Next month you will finish this section/row up with sock blocks.

This block is based on 1 1/2" squares and goes together fairly easily even though it is a bunch of squares. But it's all worth the cutting and sewing when the block is done. It was one of my favorite blocks to put together, and I love it with the red button berries!

I have laid out all of my squares for my block pairing
up the ones that will also form the triangle squares. whew....
it's a lot of squares....

Here I am sewing the small triangle in a square block.
I have a triangle square and a background square paired up
right sides together, all ready to sew corner to corner.

Sewing corner to corner....

I have all of my triangle blocks completed and I'm
ready to start constructing the block.

As you can see, I am starting to put the sections together.
In this photo I have the center strip done... still lots of sewing to do.

The wreath block is all complete! I've laid the red
buttons onto the block to show you how cute it's going to be when
the buttons are sewn on.

The pattern can be found for FREE this month in my Craftsy Shop and also on my website. Also, if you ever need to find past blocks or tutorials, I have a tab at the top of my blog labeled 2016 BOM that you can click on to get links to all past blog postings for this quilt. A complete listing of fabric supplies can be found on my website, Craftsy Shop and also under the 2016 BOM tab on my blog. Remember to post pictures of your progress on Instagram #quiltdoodledesignsBOM2016 (you can also tag me at Quilt Doodle Designs) There is also a flickr group you can join and post pictures.

Button packs are available in my Etsy Shop. I have packaged the button packs a couple of different ways. Either as one big pack with everything in it or individually for each design/row.

There's also a handy dandy grab-able button to post on your blog to help me promote and get the word out about this fun Christmas BOM .  Please help to spread the word!

 Happy Quilting!
