This month's block is a pretty teapot. It is one of my favorite things, but actually it represents a great friendship I have with my dear friend Lynn. I've known Lynn since high school. We had a lot in common, we were both teenagers that had dad's that were transferred from out east to the midwest. A very different life the we were used to. Soda was now called pop, a hero - a sub. I didn't understand the whole creamed tuna on potato chip school lunch. I thought it looked soooo disgusting. She helped introduce me to a great group of friends, one of them being my husband. We've been great friends forever... we've giggled, cried and have shared many things. She's been there to help celebrate the good times and has offered a shoulder during the really crappy times. She's like a sister to me. We've been pregnant together which was fun, our youngest sons are 3 weeks apart... and now they are grown. We are both empty nesters... well almost... When our kids were little, we would get together, giggle and gossip visit over cups of tea. When the kids were young, they would play and Lynn and I would sit at the kitchen table drink tea and visit. Sometimes we would work on crafts while the kids played away. These days we stop at Starbucks or Caribou for our tea and then make our way to our favorite shops and look for treasures to share with our families. I now pull my special teapot out for our quilting/sewing days. It's such a blessing to have such a great friendship.
I've traced all of my pieces onto the paper side of the heat n bond. |

Thank you so much ! This is so cute. I have cute red fabric with the swirls like your pink, which I think I will use for my teapot. Love the story about your BFF and I love your pictures-make this so easy! Have a groovy day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet design! I am an avid tea drinker and love my teapot :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that beautiful friendship. Thank you for the lovely new design!
Thanks so much. I love the tea pot. It will look great in the quilt but I think I might have to make a mini quilt as my daughter collects tea pots and will love it.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't quite get mine done in time for the drawing, but am enjoying this a lot. Love the little teapot that is coming next.
ReplyDeleteI am sewing by hand and am not using heat and bond, but am using wash away stabilizer and turning under the edges. I finally peeked at the Flicker group photos and see that my blocks will all be backwards from everyone else's blocks. I can only assume it has to do with how the heat and bond technique is done.
Since I have two that are turned wrong, I think I will just let all of them be turned wrong....well not really wrong, just mirror images.
Thank you for doing this BOM!
Wow - what a cute block!!! THANKS!!
