Welcome! It's the very beginning of the My Favorite Things mystery BOM. I'm so excited!!! For January there are two blocks that we will be working on, a snowman and a Christmas tree. Two of my favorite things. They are both applique. In fact all of the blocks with the exception of December's will be applique. As I mentioned, it will be a mystery quilt but I have let you in on the layout of the quilt. This quilt can be done scrappy if you want to bust your fabric stash. Each month I will offer a NEW block and it will be FREE for that month, as soon as the next block comes out, past blocks will be available for a small fee....
I traced all of the pieces onto the heat n bond. Drawing in pencil on the paper side of the heat n bond. |
Then I iron on the pieces onto the wrong side of the fabric and cut them all out. |
Then peel off the paper and lay them onto the front side of your block. Iron in place. The snowman is placed on a 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" square. |
I go slow to while I applique and stop and pivot around corners. |
January Snowman! I embellished the block with some buttons, beads and embroidery. |
'Christmas Tree' The tree is decorated with brightly colored buttons. |
There's a flicker group! Please join...Every month post photos of your Quilt Doodle BOM finishes in the BOM flicker group for a chance to win that month's prize! Woot woot!
Don't forget to grab the button too and post on your blog! The more the merrier! The code for the button can be found below.

ReplyDeleteAdorable blocks to start your new BOM quilt! I am a little confused....will the blocks have sashing or pieced borders around them? Thank you!

I am so new to blogging and quilting I am looking forward to learning both. Could you please email the Jan bom pattern. Dodies75@yahoo.com I couldn't get it to open. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable quilt this is going to be! Thank you for doing this and sharing :)
ReplyDeleteIf I may make one small suggestion, as a longarm quilter, it is better to add your button and bead embellishments after it is quilted as the quilter won't be able to quilt close to them.
Again, thank you for your generosity!
Lani
