Flags and Summertime

It's hard to believe that July is right around the corner. It's also fun to pull out some of my summertime decorations. These are some of my favorites for July and feature red white and blue or a the flag.

My flip flop table runner and tea towel are some of my summertime favorites to decorate with. The flip flop design is a free pattern!  It's a quick and easy pattern and makes a great hostess gift. It can be found on the Quilt Doodle Designs website under the quilting fun tab. It's adorable on a tea towel and can easily be made into a summertime table runner with a few fat quarters. The flip flop design would be ever so cute put on a summer tote too!

I also  have a couple newer designs that feature Belvedere that are fun to put on display for the month of July. In fact I leave mine out all summer. In both designs, I used wool for the applique and machine stitched around everything. You can easily use cotton fabric too. It's up to you.  I used either fabric yo-yo's or big buttons for the wheels on the blue truck.
There's still time to make these sweet designs for the 4th. All of these designs would be great to work on this weekend or to put on display as part of your summertime decorating. I think we're planning on staying close to home this weekend and be a couple of weekend warriors and work on some yard projects. I plan on firing up the grill for the 4th. I haven't decided if I'll make burgers or brats. I'm just hoping for some sunshine!

Have a wonderful 4th of July,
Cindy and Belvedere

Celebrating Red, White and Blue!

I designed this for a blog hop a few years ago and it's still one of my favorite summertime designs!  It's called 'Flip Flops'.  When I think of summer and the month of July, I think of flip flops. Brings great memories of sand between my toes, lemonade,  fun in the sun and water while waiting for the evenings fireworks. I love flip flops! So why not make something fun with a flippitty floppy design. You can either place this design on a 10 1/2" or 12 1/2" block, or on a tea towel.  Let your imagination go! Wouldn't this be cute on an apron or  a 10 minute table runner...
To get a copy of the pattern for Free! visit my Craftsy shop.  It's a free instant download.  You can also find a copy HERE. A copy can also be found on my website too.
Here are the fabrics I choose to do my pattern....
Trace the pieces onto the heat n bond....
Iron onto the heat n bond pieces onto the wrong side of the fabric....
Cut your pieces out!

Peel off the paper backing... and lay onto your fabric following the pattern layout.

You can do just one 'Flip Flop' if you would like....
or two like the pattern shows!
I put one set of  'Flip Flops' on a 10 1/2" cream fabric square
and on a red striped tea towel...
Sew around the edge using a blanket stitch...
Time to decorate your flip flops.... you could leave them plain with just the stars,
or embellish with buttons...
I love yo-yos... so I embellished mine with yo-yos and buttons!
'Flip Flops' on a 10 1/2" cream fabric square.  I built around the square with 2 1/2" red strips and 4" blue stripe strips to make a quick and easy table runner!
I got this project done in an afternoon.  It was fun to do!  I now have a cute tea towel and table runner for on my patio table to celebrate summer, or the 4th of July!  Enjoy!

Another fun design for the 4th of July is my 'Flag That I Love' applique.
It's also a great tea towel design and can embellish any project that you
think up... Let's celebrate the 4th of July!

Happy Quilting!

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July is usually the beginning of some summertime fun at our house. It's nice to have a three day weekend to relax since we usually stay in town. When my boys were younger we would host a barbecue with some good friends of ours. It was awesome, the boys would play and eat treats while we relaxed and visited over drinks on the deck. At nightfall we would shoot off fireworks. No big plans this year.... the boys are all grown up our neighbors are going on a trip up north. It will be a quiet weekend. My hubby and boys are getting the boat ready for our upcoming vacation to the cabin. They're fixing something, but for the life of me, I don't know what it's called. Something that the boat needs to run...  We didn't buy any fireworks this weekend since we are planning on catching a display somewhere on the 4th. I am stocking up on some barbecue goodies for my guys.... I'll make something red, white and bluish. ... make my loaded baked potato salad and grill something wonderful! It's also fun to pull out some of my summertime decorations. My flip flop table runner and tea towel are some of my summertime favorites to decorate with. The flip flop design is a free pattern!  It's a quick and easy pattern and makes a great hostess gift.

Some areas will be a bit wet for the 4th, so if you need a fun weekend project. Both of these designs would be great to work on this weekend.

Have a wonderful 4th of July,
