Oath of Allegiance

'Alarming Conditions'
For those of you who don't want to trace out pattern pieces, I have been goggling around and I have found that there is a CD available.  The Civil War Diary Quilt CD includes the EQ project for the Civil War Diary Quilt Book by Rosemary Youngs and instructions on how to use the file.  You will need Electric Quilt 5 or 6 software on your computer to access the block libraries. With the CD you will be able to print up templates or foundation patterns.  Below is the link to order the CD from The Fat Quarter Shop.

  1. Ok, now you are making me want to make the civil war quilt. I've been thumbing through the Farmers Wife book for about a year now. I love these traditional quilts.

  2. Hi Cindy,
I have a plan...My sister had surgery on Monday which I mentioned to you. It was a bilateral mastectomy. The great news is that it went well, clear margins, nodes, blah blah blah. She is doing beautifully. THE PLAN! She is also a quilter and I spoke with her this morning about your blog. I really want her to do this with me so I am going to get her started. I will make 2 blocks each week, one for each of us until she is better and I'll give her the book and the patterns. When she is ready she can use the blocks for her quilt or she can make her own. Now I'm just using my stash for now...not searching for the perfect Civil War Prints and I've ordered the books and they are on the way. How does that sound? I'm excited! I'll never finish one of these without a leader and being accountable to a group.

  3. I so glad to hear that your sister's surgery went well. Yeah!!!! Feel free to work at your own pace. I'm looking forward to this project also and I am thrilled that you are following along. It's so sweet of you to start this for your sister too... I have four sisters, it's a special bond. Happy quilting!
