What is the estimated total yardage for this quilt and the color theme? Is it Winter?? Is it Christmas? Not sure of colors I should pick up now while they are on sale. Kris
ReplyDeleteA complete listing can be found under 'The Beginning' under the BOM 2014 tab at the top of the Quilt Doodle Blog. It's a winter themed quilt. Hope this helps.
DeleteI would like to do this BOM
ReplyDeleteHello I would love to start this BOM,Hope I am not to late...Thanks Deborah
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sponsoring the 2014 BOM. The quilt sounds REALLY cute, and I am anxious to see the finished designs. I LOVE the January snowman block, and think it'll be lots of fun to see the finshed quilts everyone makes!
I am wondering if it can be made into a 'sampler' type wall hanging rather than a twin size quilt as indicated in the description. What do you think? Unfortunately I do not have room for a twin quilt, so would rather make a wall hanging/lap size quilt instead. Doable? Please let me know. and don't worry about corresponding yardage.... I have tons of scraps and stash to sift through in order to finish the blocks!
Thanks so much for the help!
I would like to do a wall hanging as well, so hope this will be possible!
DeleteHere is my suggestion, I've given this some thought. :) I have been thinking about how you could reduce the size and I think the easiest way would be to reduce the 'block' size. This design is based on 2 1/2" strips and squares. You could reduce it down to 2" squares and if you are really ambitious, even down to 1 1/2" squares. If you do it by reducing the 2 1/2" square it wouldn't affect the overall design. As you sew along you can email me anytime with questions and I will be happy to help. I will also tell you not all of the 'blocks' are strips or rows. Another 'hint' the snowmen are 7 across... not all designs are '7' some are 5 etc. So reducing the block size will be your best option.
DeleteI'm almost finished with this first section. Sewing machine quit on me, had to pull out the back-up machine and it's light is burned out! Guess I try and finish on Saturday. My sister is going to sew this BOM too. I'm busting stash so will be sending her the fabrics cut and ready to sew. She still works full time and having all pre-cut will help her keep up. We is gonna have some sew'in fun ;-). LOL
ReplyDeleteAm I correct, we are making just 1 cabin block -- or are we making a complete row of them --
ReplyDeleteYou only make one cabin block. Happy quilting!

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy this BOM is so cute. Do I get the patterns through craftsy? Also, don't see the listings for the total yardage. I want to make sure I have enough wintry fabrics? Thanks for doing this.

Hi Cindy, I can't find the March block. Have I missed something?
ReplyDeleteI found it posted on her Quilt Doodles Pattern Store. It's a tree.....
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this cute bom. Love your designs
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteJust going to cut my squares for the big tree and was reading the directions which say 2" squares. Would this not give our finished block a smaller size.
Thanks for this BOM. I am so excited each month. However, I was just going to cut the squares for The Big Tree and notice the squares are only 2". Will this not make the block smaller than the required 16".
ReplyDeleteAre there going to be any sashings or borders?
ReplyDeleteSo enthused for the July's row!! Thanks for this BOM; it's been fun each month so far.
ReplyDeleteWhen will July's block be posted?
ReplyDeletewhere is july?
ReplyDeleteCan I have the link to your BOM pinterest board?

Is anyone else thinking of doing a top or bottom border row to fuse and blanket stitch their name and 2014 on after we have October's final row?
ReplyDeleteL
Excited to see October!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeleteWhen is October block coming out Thanks
ReplyDeleteSo October is not out yet? Checking since I am no longer getting notices and don't know why. I missed July and Aug so bought them and now don't have Sept either. Ugh.
