Scrappy Hats QAL Day 7

Welcome to Day 7!

For todays block we will make a striped hat brim. It reminds me of a candy cane stripe and peppermint. I love stripes so this hat brim is one of my favorites. It won't take very long to make, I would allow a half an hour to complete today's block. I used a red and then the same white background fabric that I used for my pinwheel block. But you can pull any colors you want for your striped hat brim. Have fun with it! So go and grab a little snack to stash by your sewing machine and enjoy your sewing time!  If you have extra time in your sewing room, you could make extra blocks for a cute pillow or table runner to go with your Scrappy Hats quilt. It's getting colder here in Minnesota and I'm starting to wonder when our first snowfall will be. I thought it would be fun to take a snowy picture with my Scrappy Hats Snowman quilt.

Following the pattern, cut out your red and white/background rectangles for the striped hat brim.

Sew the rectangles together right sides together alternating the 'colors' to form a striped rectangle strip.

The sew the striped hat brim to the snowman hat rectangle and the snowman face rectangle to form the snowman block.

Remember the carrot and eyes are not added to the block yet!

Isn't it fun making snowman blocks! I just love them! If you feel extra ambitious, you can make extra ones for an adorable table runner to match your quilt! See you tomorrow for the next snowman quilt block! Remember to share your block on Instagram #scrappyhatsqal @quiltdoodledesigns

Happy Quilting!

  1. That one is so cute, and so easy. The stars are the one I keep thinking about. So tiny!
