Scrappy Hats Day 2

Welcome to Day 2!

I'm so happy that you are able to join me in some quilting fun. This is a fun and happy quilt that can be on display all winter long!

Today is a pretty easy sewing day and you're going to only need about 15 minutes in your sewing room today to complete today's block. No joke! We will do 'Hat Brim #1' titled easy squares....

Let's get started!

First a reminder: the hat brims are meant to bee scrappy. This is where you can have a lot of fun playing with color. If you are using only the 13 fat quarters for the hat brims and NOT pulling from your stash it is important to rotate thru the colors making sure not to repeat the same color as what is used on the snowman hat rectangle. This will help disperse the colors throughout the quilt top. There is NO set color for each block. The color combos used are totally up to you!
Following the pattern directions, cut the three squares out of three different fabrics for the Easy Squares Hat Brim. Sew them together to form the brim using a 1/4" seam allowance, press.

Sew the hat brim to the main hat rectangle and the snowman face rectangle. I am showing the block with the carrot nose and a couple of buttons for eyes. We are NOT doing this step yet. This will be explained later.

I'll see you tomorrow! We will begin to work on another hat brim. Remember to post your progress to Instagram #scrappyhatqal @quiltdoodledesigns

Happy Quilting!

  1. Well, that IS quick and easy, and covers people's 15-minutes-a-day if they are doing that count. =)
