April BOM

Take me out to the ball game,

Take me out with the crowd;

Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,

I don't care if I never get back.

Let me root, root, root for the home team,

If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,

At the old ball game.
It's April and time for the BOM for this month.  I am calling this block, 'Ballgame'. I used four fabrics, one being cream. This block is embellished with 30 mm yo-yo's. I love yo-yo's. They are optional, so feel free to leave them off if you would like. The yo-yo's remind me of 'bases', the block has the shape of a baseball diamond.... baseball is right around the corner. The boys of summer will be playing again soon. I can almost smell the brats and hot dogs and hear the crack of a bat....
Have fun with the block!  If you are using only two fabrics, just alternate the fabrics in the block, starting with the dark in the center.  The printable pattern can be found Etsy and on Craftsy. Past patterns can be found for a small $1.99 fee at my Etsy and Craftsy shops just in case you are just joining the BOM or have missed one.
So here is how I completed my Ballgame block.....
For the center square, cut a 4   3/4" square and label 'D'

From a contrasting fabric, cut 2 ~ 3   7/8" square, and then cut corner to corner.
Four triangles total.
Label 'C'

Using a coordinating fabric, cut 1~ 7  1/4" square.
Then cut corner to corner, then cut corner to corner again to form 4 triangles.
Label 'B'

From light fabric, cut 2   6   7/8" squares, then cut
from corner to corner to form 4 triangles.
Label 'A'

All of the pieces are ready to be pieced together....

Following the diagram on the pattern, sew the 'C' triangles onto the  'D' square remember to  center pieces before sewing.

Here I am adding the 'C' triangles to the 'D' square. Iron
Then add the 'B' triangles remembering to center the triangles long side with the 'CD' block. Iron
Lastly add the 'A' triangles centering the long side with the 'BCD' block. Iron

The block should measure 12 1/2" square.....

Then add 30 mm yo-yo's on the center block's points.
Isn't it a pretty block! I'm looking forward to seeing your
Ballgame block.

Happy Easter

I haven't done much sewing over the last couple of days since I have been getting ready for Easter. I finally packed the snowmen and pulled out the cute Easter decorations. It was odd putting the sweet snowmen away since we still have snow on the ground here in Minnesota! I'm sure it will all be gone soon if the temperatures keep getting up in the 50's (plus it's raining this morning.)

I've made the trip to the grocery store and the recipes are ready for a day of cooking for tomorrow. Here's the menu;

Ham
Fresh Pineapple
Grandma Eva's Potatoes
Grandma's Fruit Salad

Grandma's Fruit Salad
Whip carton of whipping cream and sweeten to taste, add chopped apples and sliced bananas.
My grandma always made this for the Holidays and other family gatherings.
It's one of my favorites.

Grandma Eva's Potatoes
8-10 potatoes, boiled and mashed
then add 8 oz package cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
finely minced onion
salt to taste
garlic powder
Beat well. Fill casserole and cover with shredded cheddar cheese. Cover and bake.
I usually put this in a crock pot and cook for 6 hours on low. I usually make it a day ahead and then plug in the crock pot the morning of our special dinner.
After my son John was born, Grandma Eva brought casseroles (plural) of this to our home for me to freeze for a quick side dish for meals. This is one of my husband's favorite recipes!
Buffet table is all decorated...

My spring time centerpiece...

At least it looks like Easter inside!

My cute egg cozies...

Happy Easter!

Stitch It Up

First I want to thank Madame Samm, Cyndi, Debbie and Jane for bringing us this wonderful hop. The patterns provided were wonderful and it was so hard to choose which ones to do! I have enjoyed stitching in the evenings while watching TV. Now that Downton Abby is done for this season, I'm not sure what to watch on TV anymore. (And what a stinky ending for season 3, boooooo! What were the writers thinking!)

Back to this lovely hop.... I decided to stitch on some flour sack towels and these are just for me. If you took a peek in my kitchen towel drawer, you would understand. It's time to throw some of my thread bare 27 year old kitchen towels. It was hard to decide on what designs to do, they were all so lovely... I'm planning on doing more, but this is what I got done so far....
A pretty red flower....

A bouquet of spring blooms....

Ah..... coffee......

oops, not part of the hop, but I love this spring time design...
For my giveaway, I am giving away a PDF copy of my 'Coneflowers' pattern to two lucky winners! Just leave a sweet comment for one chance, for a second chance let me know if you follow. I will announce our lucky winners on March 30th.
Two lucky winners will win a PDF copy of my 'Coneflowers' pattern!
This giveaway is now closed.....

I get to share today with these talented stitchers.... enjoy hopping around!

FNSI Result

I did some tracing for embroidery....

My pretty Infinity Scarf...

Good morning! I know it's Sunday, but time has gotten away from me again! I traced a design for some more embroidery, I have been so inspired by the Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop. I get to present my fun projects on Wednesday. I hope you have a chance to stop back.  I also make a really cute Spring Infinity Scarf.  I found a great tutorial  here..... I would be post a tutorial of my own my but my camera batteries died while I was sewing. I took a final photo of the finished project with my phone. I used some pretty fabric from Hoffman Fabrics. (I received a box full of fun fabric to work with!) I hope everyone had a fun FNSI!

Happy quilting,
