March BOM

It's March and time for the BOM for this month.  It's an easy peasy one.... the easiest one for the year. We've got to have at least one super easy block just for the fun of it. It's an old fashion 'rail fence' block. This is one of my favorite patterns and if you need a quick quilt to put together, this is a fantastic block. I made my son a rail fence quilt many years ago. It was so much fun to make. You will need 4 fabrics to complete this block, from light to dark. If you are using only two fabrics, just alternate the fabrics in the block. The printable pattern can be found on Craftsy. Past patterns can be found for a small $1.99 fee at my Etsy and Craftsy shops just in case you are just joining the BOM or have missed one.

So here is how I completed the BOM, 'Rail Fence'....
Here are the four fabrics that I chose for my block.

Cut 1  2" strip x wof from each color.
If you are using fat quarters; cut 2  2" strips x wof from each color.

Sew together using a 1/4" seam lengthwise, going from light to dark. Iron.

The width of your 4 strip section should measure 6 1/2".
Cut 4  6 1/2" blocks from 4 strip section.

Lay the blocks out following the pattern diagram.
Sew sections together, iron. Your finished block
should measure 12 1/2" including seam allowance. As
you can see, I arranged the blocks to make a 'zig zag' in
the block design. It adds a little interest to the block. Have fun
with the block! There's no right or wrong way.

It's All About Me!

It's all about me and Wilson today!  I want to quick thank Madame Samm and Marlene for organizing and hosting! And a big thank you to Amy Bradley for providing us with such a fun applique! What a great pattern!

I'm so glad that you found me! Sorry about the goof up with the link.... but so happy you are here!

I decided to switch the size up a bit and make the background bigger so that I could include my sewing buddy, Wilson. (I used my Wilson Doodlette pattern)  I thought this blog hop would be a great opportunity for me to make a wall quilt for in my sewing room, I used fabric from my fabric stash. It was a fun project to make, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. My boys got a good chuckle out of my mini quilt. They thought it was a pretty good likeness. It gives me the giggles every time I look at it.

Wilson and I

I was thinking for a giveaway.... I will give away a PDF copy of my 'Wilson' Doodlette to three lucky winners. Wilson and I will announce the winners March 1st.  Just leave a comment for a chance.  For an extra chance, let us know if you follow our quilty adventures too.
(This giveaway is now closed....)

I hope that you have fun hopping. I get to share today with this wonderful list of talented quilters;

FNSI sorta....

It was FNSI, sorta...... Last night I wondered if Heidi was having FNSI and thought, I haven't checked.... then my big comfy chair swallowed me up and I fell asleep. This has happened before, many times....
First thing this morning, after I drank a cup of coffee I checked out Heidi's site and shoot it was FNSI last night.... so I quick signed up and started sewing thinking, it's gotta be Friday somewhere....funny thing is.... my husband joined me.  You see, I don't do well when it comes to mending jeans.... so my sweetie brought my other machine upstairs to join me and worked on darning his junkie, work in the garage jeans. Gosh, I love this man! It's been fun sewing together.... So here is what I got done..... my husband refuses to let me take a picture of his darned jeans.  But let me say he's doing a much better job then I would have done! His home-ec teacher would be proud. He's definitely  progressed passed making a pillow.

Paper pieced snowman for a new table runner pattern I'm working on....
I made three of them....

Two of them I put together correctly....

But I was so side tracked with hunk-a-roo sewing....

that I sewed the bottom half of the snowman on wrong!!!
I'm off to rip out some seams and try to selvage the table runner. It's going to be a cute pattern when I'm all done. A few fabric yo-yo's and some beads.... It'll be super cute.  It was fun paper piecing the snowmen.... minus the boo-boo.

Happy quilting,

Thumper

We have a new resident in our home.... a cute little bunny named Thumper.  Thomas brought him home a week or so ago, and how can I refuse such a cute little face. He is adorable and snorts when he's eating.  Spring is right around the corner and I designed this cute little paper pieced bunny to celebrate spring! The paper piece pattern is available on my Craftsy and Etsy sites as an instant download.  The pattern includes directions for a 10" block and also a smaller 5" block. I used Bali Hand Paints from Hoffman Fabrics to complete my block and have visioned turning this into a table runner for Easter.  Imagine three to five bunnies in a row with some pastel colored sashing.  It would be so cute! The smaller bunny block would make an adorable mug rug to tuck in your Easter baskets!

Happy quilting!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day! It's a day to tell the special people in your life that you love them etc. It's also a great excuse to eat chocolate too! Every year I tuck a bag of 'Hugs' and a bag of 'Kisses' in my husbands lunchbox.  Been doing since we were first married. It's a fun tradition now. Mark and I already went out to eat earlier this week to avoid the crowds so we will be spending a quiet evening at home. Probably watch a movie and pop some popcorn.

I'm also thinking about a fun quilting day this Sunday I have planned with my good friend Lynn. I'm so looking forward to our mini quilt retreat! I've been making notes all week! I have a four day weekend so I will be sewing all weekend, throwing in laundry and cleaning in between....

Hope that you find some time to quilt this weekend. Remember to post your February BOM blocks onto the flickr group! I will announce February's giveaway tomorrow.

Happy Valentines Day!

Celebrating Birthdays!

Happy Birthday!!!

Celebrating January, and February Birthdays with a very special

I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Birthdays are so much fun to celebrate, of coarse I ate too much cake. But I couldn't choose between birthday cake or cheesecake, so I had both! Yeah! I get to buy some pretty blue flannel fabric!

Happy quilting!

Here's a fun design to help you celebrate your special birthdays in your family! It's cute on a table runner or tea towel!
